One union, many cultures. Mabuhay!
The recent Mabuhay Celebration in Victoria brought together union members, their families, friends, and community members for a day filled with cultural pride, fellowship and unity. The event showcased the rich heritage of the Filipino community while strengthening bonds among union members and the broader maritime workforce.
The celebration highlighted the values that define the Filipino spirit of hospitality, resilience, hard work and community. Through cultural displays, food, music, and shared experiences, attendees had the opportunity to learn, connect and celebrate the diversity that enriches our workplaces and communities.
This successful event would not have been possible without the continued support of our union. Their commitment to fostering inclusion, cultural awareness, and member engagement shows the importance of building a strong and united workforce. By supporting this event our union helps create meaningful opportunities for members to come together outside of the workplace and strengthen relationships that extend beyond the job.
We extend our sincere appreciation to President Eric McNeely for his unwavering support of this initiative. His leadership and dedication to supporting union members and community-building activities played an important role in making this celebration possible. His commitment to recognizing and celebrating the diversity of our membership continues to help build a stronger, more inclusive union.
We would also like to recognize Local 1 President Paula White for her encouragement, support, and commitment to our members and community events. Her dedication to fostering member engagement and promoting cultural celebrations helps strengthen the sense of belonging and solidarity in our union. Her support was greatly appreciated and contributed to the success of this event.
