My Harassment-Free Ship: a call to action
June 25 is the Day of the Seafarer. This year’s campaign, My Harassment-Free Ship, puts the spotlight on bullying and harassment at sea. The goal: a global maritime culture rooted in safety, respect and accountability.
As a union, we know that harassment and bullying are workplace issues. They’re not just personal experiences; they’re violations of workers’ rights. We stand with the International Maritime Organization in calling for stronger policies, safer reporting systems and a zero-tolerance approach across the industry.
Seafarers can now access a new interactive map showing support resources by country. But here in B.C., your union is your first call. If you’ve experienced or witnessed harassment, contact your union rep. We’re here to support you.
We encourage you to speak out, share the campaign and join the push for harassment-free ships. Every seafarer deserves a safe workplace.
