Honouring fallen workers on April 28
President Eric McNeely and Deas Dock Component President Christine Shakespeare joined labour and government leaders at Jack Poole Plaza in Vancouver on April 28 for the annual Day of Mourning ceremony.
They stood alongside BC Federation of Labour President Sussanne Skidmore, Labour Minister Jennifer Whiteside and former Minister Harry Bains to honour workers who have lost their lives or been injured on the job. We especially remembered Brother Ken(Kulwant) Chohan, a welder, father and proud BCFMWU member who died at work in 2020.
Every worker deserves to come home safe. We carry the memory of those we’ve lost and continue the fight for safer workplaces across B.C.
