BCFMWU 2022 EDUCATION AWARDS

BC Ferry & Marine Workers’ Union is offering awards in amounts of $500 and $1000.  Awards are available to students who will be enrolling in University Programs, College Programs or Technical Programs.

Also available:  

BARRY WARTNOW ENDOWMENT FUND BURSARIES

  • One $250 award for Fine Arts post-secondary education to a Local 3 member or their immediate family.
  • One $250 award for Fine Arts post-secondary education to the membership-at-large or their immediate family.

FIRST NATIONS VISION COMMITTEE

  • Four $500 awards for First Nations Students. In order to be considered please self-identify on the application form.

Who Can Apply?

All awards are open to BCFMWU members in good standing who have been active for at least one year, casual employees hired prior to 2021, or the spouse, son, daughter or grandchild of a member in good standing.  If the member is retired or deceased, they had to have been in good standing at the time.

How to Apply:

You will need to complete both the Award Application and Academic Reference Form. These can be found online at http://www.bcfmwu.com/members/forms or contact your Local President or the Union Office.  Each application needs to include the applicant’s most recent transcripts.

All the details can be found on the Award Information & Instruction Sheet that will be posted with the Award Application and Academic Reference Form.

Education Awards are open to first time applicants as well as those that have previously applied and those that have previously received Education Awards.

The Union will contact the successful applicants with the results. Good luck to everyone.
