GROUP AND POLICY GRIEVANCE UPDATE
On Friday evening, December 17, 2021, the Union received notification from BC Ferries that they had denied both the Policy Grievance (lack of alternative measures to mitigate impact to unvaccinated employees) and the Group Grievance (leave without pay), filed by the Union regarding the BCFS Mandatory COVID-19 Vaccination Policy on December 2, 2021.
As a result of BC Ferries grievance denials, the Union has carefully considered options available and the maters under dispute. As of Monday, December 20, 2021, we have formally notified BC Ferries that we, the Union, will:
- Advance the Policy Grievance to arbitration using Article 5 of the Collective Agreement.
- Advance the Group Grievance to arbitration using Section 104 of the BC Labour Code.
We will keep you up to date on the maters going forward.
