Bargaining Update #8
Union Bargaining Update
The following update is provided for the information of BCFMWU members only. Please do not post on bulletin boards or share on social media.
Last week the BCFMWU and BC Ferries exchanged a summary of the parties’ respective positions regarding an appropriate wage re-opener outcome. These positions will be the basis for subsequent discussion, legal submissions, and any questions that arise or points requiring clarification as we get closer to the relevant legal principles and work towards a summary of proposals and a joint book of documents for the dispute resolution panel hearing dates scheduled October 23-27, 2023.
Note that at any time as we prepare and advance towards the DRP hearing dates the employer and the Union could begin mediation under the language in 35.02 to come to a negotiated agreement on general and special wage adjustments.
As the situation develops updates will be provided directly to the membership via email and at www.bcfmwu.com in the members area.
On behalf of your Central Negotiating Committee,
Strength in numbers and stronger together
